New Video “Sky” OUT NOW!
1. What inspired you to create “Sky,” both lyrically and musically?
I wrote ‘Sky’ in sadness and heartbreak. I was trying to reach for a love that didn’t pay attention to me or my needs. Unrequited love. I was wishing that my then partner would wake up and realize what we could have together… and I realized that I had to let go, because you can’t change someone who doesn’t want to change. So the phrase; “I can’t help but wonder, if we ever reach the sky… cause we are playing…” is a way of saying; I wish we could go there, but I know that we are back and forth and we are not serious about it, and that’s a shame because I can see that we can make it there but the way we are going about it, I can only wonder.
2. Can you share any interesting anecdotes or experiences from the making of the music video?
The day we made the music video a big green beetle 🪲 appeared during one of the loving intimate scenes. Orlando, a dear friend and behind the scenes camera man were also wearing a t-shirt that day with a big beetle on it. I looked up what beetles represent spiritually and as an omen, and we felt lucky to have one present in our set. We created the video with a lot of love and we were happy that everything happened so effortlessly. In the last credit slate in our video we included the green beetle. It became the symbol for our work and the whole team felt it was a beautiful omen/blessing for our creation.
3. How do you feel “Sky” represents your artistic growth and style?
It’s a very mystical and ethereal song and expression. I really put in my heart and soul into the vocal recordings, and Julio Morales Lagarda, my producer balanced the instrumental with my vocals into a unique combination of sounds. I feel this song for me artistically took me to another dimension and opened new doors and ideas for how I want to create my music. I think my style is to mix a lot of genres, vocal sounds and elements. I love creating background vocals that become part of the song like instruments. Melodies that enhances other melodies and puts you into a state of relaxation, and travel of the mind.
4. Are there any particular messages or emotions you hope listeners and viewers take away from the song and video?
I think everyone can relate to unrequited love. To want someone that is not for you. My message with this song would be that it’s okay to let go and move on with your life. If you want to reach the ‘Sky’ but your partner doesn’t, you have to fly on your own untilhe/she’s ready… or you continue your journey and you connect with someone that is on your level in life. It’s hard to build something with someone if values, goals and love are not aligned. You have to have the courage to love yourself enough to forgive and let go and do what’s best for you. In the end that choice is probably best for the other person too. Nothing comes out of push and pull relationships where you try to change the other to align with what you want. If you both meet where you are and where you want to go together it becomes a peaceful journey instead of a turbulent one. A sign for me that you’re in the right company is feeling peaceful. And when both parties have self love you can love each other in harmony.
5. Did you collaborate with anyone special on this project, and how did their contributions enhance the final result?
Yes. Julio Morales Lagarda, is a great producer and friend. We decided to create this song together because I really like the way he creates music. We were jamming one day and were singing covers and I told him I had this idea for a song and he understood the piano melody and feeling right away and we just continued from there to experiment on how we wanted the feeling of the song to be. I think he enhanced the song a lot from what I initially thought it would be like. I travel in my mind and emotions with this song because of the instrumental part he created. And the way he put together my vocals was really an art. I don’t think another producer could’ve made this song in this particular style and I’m very happy I collaborated with Julio for this project.
6. What future plans or projects can your fans look forward to after the release of “Sky”?
I’m currently in the process of producing my album. I have five singles out, and now it’s time for me to make my first collection of songs. I’ve started the production with my producer Dante Gastelum, in Playa del Carmen. Dante created my three first singles; Playcard, I’m Villain, and Magic, and I have trust in his talents to help me out on my new songs.
